2011 was an exciting year for us at the Headtunes camp. Beginning in Feb with the debut release of Do It Proper that got some remix treatments from Joshua Iz and Sleazy McQueen. Be on the look out for his new EP coming out in early 2012 with remixes from Homero Espinosa and DJ Nutrious. We also dropped an amazing EP from Jesus Pablo, that included “C Major”, which has piano anthem written all over it. There will be some vocals added to it and fresh new remixes coming out sometime in 2012. Then there were EP’s by the likes of Rob Clarke and Peckos, with remixes from Jay West, Mike Jules, Pete Dafeet, and Deepshizzol. Last but not least, we turned 6 this year and to celebrate we decided to drop our first ever mix CD entitled 5 + 1 that was funded by way of crowd sourcing site called Kickstarter. Needless to say we reached our goal and our long time collaborator Sleazy McQueen put together a fine selection of Headtunes gems from the past 6 years with a few sprinkles of his flavor with tracks from Cosmic Boogie, J Kriv and of course some Sleazy tracks.
We are looking forward to 2012 and we promise more great things to come with new music from Jesus Pablo, Jota Wagner, Do It Proper, Matthieu Duchesne and more.
Here’s a little round-up of some of our favorite tracks from 2011, some fun parties we attended and some podcasts we’ve enjoyed over the past year! Now…there was a lot of great stuff released in 2011, so it was hard for us to narrow it down to 10. We usually don’t include any Headtunes tracks, as it defeats the purpose of this….but how could we resist Joshua Iz’s remix of Do It Proper’s ‘The Ride’, a delicious deep house journey. Jesus Pablo released his first EP on Headtunes with a track called ‘C Major’ that is deep & soulful and has garnered plays from rare grooves, nu-disco and deep house DJ’s worldwide.
