This month we feature Rob Clarke in the mix for our Artist Series.
Rob loves eclectic music although he plays and produces underground deep & funky house music, priding himself upon programming inspiring “funk filled” journeys during live dj sets and mixes alike. DJ’ing since 1996, he began promoting and playing at drum & bass parties in and around the south coast, playing alongside DJs such as Andy C and Bad Company.
Around 1999, after working for a few years at the local independent record shop in his hometown of Eastbourne, he made the transition to house music, thanks to a few friends and colleagues who were already hooked on the sounds, since then he has never looked back and continued to play frequently at parties in and around south coast, including the infamous Gosh events alongside local don Paul Hillyer (Cream), as well as holding a Saturday night main room residency at Sussex superclub the Funktion Rooms. Now after a decade playing house music, Rob has played throughout the UK including Ministry of Sound, Herbal, Gramaphone, Inigo, Atomics, The Whitehouse, Mud Club, The Ocean Rooms, Funktion Rooms, Sub Club and has performed alongside the likes of DJ Sneak, Bobby & Steve, Tiesto, Tall Paul, Judge Jules, Funkagenda, Soul Avengerz, Jason Hodges, Dj Mes, Inland Knights, Lawnchair Generals, Kinky Movement, Short Bus Kids and many others. He curently promotes & DJs at Back2Jack/Chicaboom events as well as guesting at various other club nights such as Strictly Jackin, Dirtydubbin & Gallery.
Rob currently hosts the SERIOUS SOUNDS RADIO SHOW, bi-weekly Sunday evenings @ 8pm GMT on the popular net radio station/community Houseproud TV. He also runs the label Beats Me Music. Look out for his new “Gravity EP” coming out on Headtunes, October 4th on Traxsource.
